Beauty and the lies

Proverbs 31:30 ESV
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

I personally like the sound of the violin in the background and the drums are really good. Wes Miles’ voice is amazing, as usual! It’s one of those songs which each instrument sort of has it’s own character.

Today I started reading L’africain, which is a book by J.M.G. Le Clezio. I read it in class and the first chapter really got to me. In it he was describing this new place in Nigeria where he had to move to with his mom and how people went about half naked, and how old people where respected unlike where he came from where people always tried to cover up and how old people tried to look younger.
And it made me wonder…
Why did we believe the lie that looks are important?

Now I have very different views on looks especially since I am considering minimalism.
I believe some people create these ideas and spread them to cover up lies and the their problems. The lie that your outside says a lot about who you are and the problems they can’t solve about themselves. Like their bad attitude or addictions.
Beauty is happiness within you. Without it you will never feel complete or beautiful.
Many people believe happiness is that perfect grade, perfect familly or perfect gadget. And it’s not. It’s so much better.
It’s when you wake up in the morning and smile because you your blanket is so soft, or when you watch the clouds and notice that they form stuff…

Beauty fades with age, so if you are more concerned with your outer appearance, you will be unhappy when the wrinkles come and the number on the scale goes up. In fact, did you know that your body may show the beginning signs of aging as early as age twenty? That is why God wants us to “fear” Him. That doesn’t mean to be afraid of Him but rather to be in awe of Him and all that He has done. Let me put it to you this way. If you stand two girls next to each other and one is Miss Teen USA whose beauty is limited to physical beauty, and the other young lady is a more average-looking girl who loves the Lord more than anything, she is the more beautiful girl in the eyes of God.
